It just never feels quite right, at least to the people at this site, to call large swaths of people stupid. It feels cheap, arrogant, and self-satisfied. We don’t really like it and don’t do it lightly. But when the evidence is right in front of one’s face, who is the stupid one if it’s not going to get called out?

Additionally, we have experience being in this position! When Democrats learned that the Russian government worked to get Trump elected and we believed we might learn that there had been collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, we knew that even if it was proven, Hillary Clinton would not be “instated” president.

We knew that “at best,” Trump (and possibly Pence) would be impeached, possibly arrested, and then the presidency would go according to the constitutional list. The Speaker of the House, then Paul Ryan, would become president of the United States

But the MAGAs believe that through a combination of “RIGGED!” and (in their eyes) Biden doing a terrible job, Trump will be reinstated, and sooner rather than later.

[A]ccording to a new poll from YouGov released this week, even with just 13 days left in the year, a third of Republicans still think it’s possible, and 1 in 5 think it’s likely, that Trump will be reinstated this year.

Respondents to the poll were asked “How likely or unlikely do you think it is that Donald Trump will be re-instated as President before the end of 2021?”

Among Republicans, 18 percent said it is either “very likely” (9%) or “somewhat likely” (9%) that Trump will be reinstated, with an additional 15 percent replying that they “don’t know.”

To say that this is stupid is to redefine stupid. It is not just stupid, it is denial, it is entitlement, it is fantasy, and it’s one of the number one characteristics of a cult. A willingness to believe in the second coming, on a date certain.
