As we at this site have reported many times, Mitch McConnell’s agenda is very different than Donald Trump’s, even though they often find themselves in alignment. Both are interested in amassing as much power to themselves as individuals as possible, but McConnell does it also in order to move the nation in a direction he wants to see it move. Trump does it because he likes that pretty 747 and being called “Sir!” by big burly guys with tears in their eyes who have never cried in their lives.

People “hear things” in Washington DC, long before it’s ever heard on the news. We have been assured by Adam Schiff and Liz Cheney that even now we have only seen the “tip of the iceberg” of all they know. It is entirely possible that Mitch McConnell, with an ear to the ground in Washington has “heard” things about what’s going on below the waterline. It is even possible some Democrats or Cheney even walked up to McConnell and told him themselves, in an attempt to get some support. Maybe they said; “It’s that bad,” in the hope that McConnell would realize the stakes for 2022 and provide the Committee a bit of GOP cover.

Something is working because McConnell is widening the ever-present gap between himself and Trump. Indeed, McConnell might be making a move to bury Trump forever. It all depends upon what the Select Committee finds because, McConnell – unlike every Republican in the House – supports the Select Committee, has now said so publicly, and wants to see their work.

According to an interview by a local Kentucky station (attached below):

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is doing something pretty rare among Republicans on Capitol Hill — voicing support for the January 6 committee.

In an interview with Spectrum News, the Kentucky senator was confronted about recent comments in which he said “it will be interesting to reveal all the participants that were involved” in January 6.

“It was a horrendous event and I think what they are seeking to find out is something the public needs to know,” McConnell said.

Such simple words, but very, very powerful and diametrically opposed to everything coming out of the House.
