There has long been speculation about Trump’s seemingly “rushed” visit to Walter Reed hospital in October of 2019, a visit that went unexplained beyond “wanting to get ahead” on his annual physical. The explanation rang hollow, as such visits are generally announced days in advance. The bizarre nature of the trip, which – on camera, looked very rushed, led some to speculate that Trump’s doctors were concerned about a possible stroke or chest pain issue.

The White House had so little credibility that there were legitimate reasons to doubt the explanation.

But from Stephanie Grisham’s book, by way of the Washington Post, it does seem that the incident did actually involve part of a responsible and full physical for a man Trump’s age. It sounds like he had a procedure that he absolutely should have, a colonoscopy. But as we know, throughout Trump’s presidency, he wanted the country to see him as almost beyond health concerns, a superman.

As explained by Post from the book:

It was a days-long mystery in the national news, but Grisham’s book strongly hints that the president went for a simple colonoscopy, without actually using the word. (She wrote that it was “a very common procedure” for which “a patient is sometimes put under” and that George W. Bush had one as president, too.)

As for the elaborate concealment — Grisham writes that Trump was resistant to having Vice President Mike Pence in power even for a short period of time, and he didn’t want to be “the butt of a joke” on late-night TV.

Was he afraid that Pence would fire him within the 45 minutes Trump was a little under?

JFC, yet another seemingly serious event covered up by sheer vanity. How can a president be concerned about being the “butt” of jokes?

But there was a way to absolutely avoid those jokes if it was a concern. One announces, “the President followed doctors’ advice and underwent a colonoscopy as recommended for all men at regular intervals after a certain age. The president strongly encourages that men listen to their doctors and follow the president’s example to protect one’s health.

The late-night comics would not utter one single joke over such an important and honest message. It is also possible that Trump might have saved a couple of hundred lives, by having men in his cult follow his advice. Of course, we later learned that Trump would allow tens to hundreds of thousands to loose their lives by following his example.

A very typical and very sad example of how the Trump White House worked.
