If there is one thing we will never ever understand, it is how a germophobe like Donald Trump, a guy who needs his Diet Coke opened in set steps like a military operation so as to not have someone’s “disgusting hands” on it, took pride in hosting White House events without masks, disallowing masks, even. The germophobe was less a “phobe” than he was a phony. He would bravely face pathogens rather than simply put some cloth on his face.

Now meet (again) Dana Loesch. You know her as Cruella di Vil, the former spokesperson for the NRA back when the NRA had money. Once the NRA ran out of money (by pure coincidence, this all happened at the same time the NRA was exposed for taking Russian money), Dana needed a new gig and she needed big money. She was too controversial and too attractive (in her mind) to slum it with a real job. She needs to be rich.

She went into big radio and now hosts a show that is looking to replace the coveted “Rush” spot, 12-3:00 eastern time. In a new Washington Post expose on Loesh today one can read all about her biggest fan, herself.  We could choose dozens of topics to focus upon but the most telling is the one she most shares with Trump.

Before he became president, Loesch introduced Trump at CPAC, the annual gathering of right-wingers. They shook hands. As she was about to walk away, she paused and asked Trump if he wanted some of her hand sanitizer.

“I thought you’d never ask,” he told her. They had bonded over their shared germaphobia.

Before the pandemic, Loesch was so worried about catching colds that would sap her voice that she would wear masks on airplanes. Now the government is telling her she should mask up to stop the spread of the virus.

She doesn’t want to do it.

Did someone tell her that she cannot talk if she cannot breathe? Did anyone tell her that she cannot talk while on a ventilator? Did anyone tell her that she’s not as “pretty” when gasping for breath? Maybe Trump could tell her. They seem to have bonded before.
