Jim Bob Duggar, who you may recognize from TLC’s old show “19 Kids and Counting”, is officially running as a GOP candidate for Arkansas State Senate. Though this isn’t the first time a reality TV star has entered the political ring, it is the first celebrity candidate with an active child p0rn0graphy scandal going on in their family.

Duggar announced his running by saying that, “Now more than ever, we need a bold voice that is pro-family, pro-business, pro-gun and pro-life.” However, he has seemed significantly less pro-family since it came out that his son Josh had both m*lested his younger sisters, and was caught with child p0rn0graphy. (Sorry for the odd spelling, certain words just won’t get through.)

For this reason, Duggar’s post announcing his candidacy was met with harsh words on Facebook and other social medias.

One commentator wrote that, “Just because you gave birth to an entire voting district doesn’t mean you can win.” This is a mild comment compared to many others, which bring up Duggar’s part in covering up his son’s disgusting deeds.

It’s no surprise that Duggar’s post was not met with a happy response. Although he had a brief career in politics before his TLC show aired, he has run in two unsuccessful campaigns since it ended. It seems he may be under the impression that in this time of extreme political divide he might have a shot of winning, but his candidacy is not met with enthusiasm from either side.

Still, Duggar is undeterred. His post went on to read that, “It’s time for conservatives to demand courageous leadership that puts Arkansas families, jobs, and our constitutional liberties first.” While this generic statement may not fool most voters, he is currently running unopposed, making a potential success more possible than his past races.
