It apparently wasn’t sufficient for Donald Trump to call retired 4-star General Colin Powell a “classic RINO” the same day news broke of his passing.
Trump had to further dishonor the former Secretary of State by refusing to attend his funeral. The ceremony saw President Joe Biden, Powell’s predecessor Madeleine Albright, his deputy Richard Armitage from the State Department, and countless others in attendance.
Trump’s absence was notable.
Aside from his closest friends, the attendees included the Obamas, George W. Bush and his wife Laura, Hillary Clinton, Dick and Lynne Cheney, and a host of Powell’s former associates in both the military and in public office at State.
All who spoke of Powell at the ceremony did so in reverential tones. Powell was a born diplomat, although many criticized him after the fact for his role in leading the US into the Iraq War.
It’s no wonder that Trump was not in attendance; he is generally either not invited to such events or simply refuses to go. He has little in common with even people from his own side of the political aisle when it comes to personal life, and most wisely choose not to be associated with him to begin with.
Although his absence was apparent, it was also apparent that he wasn’t missed.

Yet again in the sort of DC event that transcends party lines–this one Colin Powell's funeral–the bipartisan lineup of recent presidents doesn't include Trump: missing but not missed.
On Powell's death, Trump denigrated him; Powell had called Trump "a national disgrace." https://t.co/h0fVu4YlTF— Jackie Calmes (@jackiekcalmes) November 5, 2021

With Trump unable or unwilling to attend Colin Powell's funeral, it's impossible to escape the appearance that Donny doesn't represent American principles & was never a real president. Instead, he appears to represent America's enemies in constantly trying to perpetrate a coup.

Watching the funeral of a great patriot, Colin Powell and seeing the outpouring of love from both Dems and Repubs. Not surprised that tRump is not there- such a petty, petty small man who knows that he cannot hold a candle to Powell

Not surprising but also notable that Donald Trump is not at Colin Powell’s funeral.
Until Trump is dead we will be continually reminded through such protocol breaches of the failure of American civility he embodies.

While watching Colin Powell's funeral, I find it interesting that our past presidents all attend such events except I have never seen Trump at any. Hmmmm. I wonder why? I guess he is simply the Class Clown!

I don't see Donald and Melania Trump at Gen. Colin Powell's funeral.
Thank God!

As I listen to Madeline Albright speak at Colin Powell‘s funeral and she acknowledges the past presidents, one name is glaringly missing. A day does not go by when Trump doesn’t display his ignorance and in humanity. Trump now joins early American slavery as our two greatest sins
