First, this is not a story about Shana Chappell. She is the grieving Gold Star mother of a lost son, she gets to say anything for a period of time because nothing could hurt worse than what she’s enduring.
So when we talk about her fury with Joe Biden and that it’s Biden’s fault that her son, Kareem, died in Afghanistan, and that Biden’s not even a legitimate parent, we are simply staring and saying we’re so sorry she has to endure this and thank her for her son’s gift to this country. And when we mention that she reached out to Trump and complained about everything we just shrug our shoulders. She is in deep pain.
This is about Trump.
Trump responded and told her – through his official “office statement” (2nd-degree tweet) saying that her son would be alive right now if he were president and that he loves her and her son. At that point we wanted to fly into a rage. Why would a person even want to claim that, “Yes, your son would be alive if I was in charge”? But, of course, that’s to be expected at this point. If there is a bottom, Trump will find it.
Moving back to Shana, still grieving, responds back, saying how much she appreciated his words and reassurances from her president and that it meant everything. She then asked if Trump would come to his funeral, that it would mean everything to her. We are positive that it would mean everything to her and in this one instance, we’d be comforted by the thought of Trump agreeing to come and help her.
But, of course, he did not. He simply responded again with how much he loves her. He has made time for television interviews, radio interviews, etc. He has access to a private jet (we’re sure) to go anywhere, it likely wouldn’t take up more than a day of his time and it would mean everything to a hero’s mother. It is too much to ask. He simply reiterated his “love” by what is basically the new Trump tweet.
Now, the funeral isn’t for a couple of weeks. We researched it and it will be in California. We suppose that – in theory – Trump could announce a week from now that he’s going but… he didn’t exactly encourage the thought that he’d consider it. He seems to be out the door now, cliche responses, period.
Her 2nd message to him and his response is below:

Asshole. If he “loved” her and her son and could’ve saved his life, he’d get off his fat ass and go comfort her. But, of course, we’ve come to expect the worst.
