This is an extremely difficult column to read and certainly write. Representative Elise Stefanik, the woman who replaced Liz Cheney as the third-ranking Republican in the House, stood outside the Capitol today and laid the blame for the entirety of the January 6th riot at the Capitol on Nancy Pelosi. Not satisfied to leave it there, she then congratulated Republicans for beginning to bring the questions forward sufficiently to get Pelosi to make the investigation “partisan.”

We are quite used to hearing utterly stunning statements and assertions from the MAGAs but this one blows us away at a level that is just… it makes one sick to their stomach. At the same time that Capitol Police are telling their stories about hearing “Jesus is my king, but Trump is my president,” the MAGAs are on the steps describing how Nancy Pelosi brought all this on by… not having sufficient security around the building even though there had been signs that something was coming and that it would be ugly, signs saying that Republican MAGAs were massing to descend on the Capitol.

According to Stefanik:

It is a fact that the U.S. Capitol Police raised concerns, and rather than providing them with the support and resources they needed and deserved, she prioritized her partisan political optics over their safety. The American people deserve to know the truth, that Nancy Pelosi bears responsibility as speaker of the House, for the tragedy that occurred on January 6th. And it was only after Republicans started asking these important questions that she refused to seek them.

As we read the above, it appears to us that Elise is saying that Nancy Pelosi knew that Trump MAGAs were going to descend upon the Capitol violently, but chose to not beef up security because it would make Republicans look bad, or Democrats better, if the police were overrun.

Moreover, were that not enough, the Republicans are the heroes here because, despite the fact that they voted down a bipartisan committee where they could ask those very questions, they are the ones that started asking questions, thus making Pelosi run scared into forming her own committee?

As we said, one best have a strong stomach. There is one decent takeaway, and only one. The GOP-MAGA must be absolutely terrified. That clause didn’t even make any sense and the faux anger was palpable, which can only mean that the MAGAs are desperate. The fact that they shoved Stefanik out there, the token woman (we are not being misogynistic, just look at the fact that there is one woman in leadership and they had to replace one woman with another woman, that does make it “token.”), means that they didn’t want it to appear like a “man” was blaming Pelosi again, that even women agree it is Pelosi’s fault.

They are desperate, but that doesn’t make this any less sick or sickening. Outrage?
