FBI Director Kash Patel and country singer Alexis Wilkins are engaged, adding a sparkling new chapter to a relationship that has already attracted scrutiny over taxpayer funded travel and federal security. For this MAGA couple, even courtship has arrived with the trappings of government power.
Wilkins, 27, disclosed the engagement Sunday with a joke on X that neatly tied the romantic news to Patel’s position. “Went and got the law involved,” Wilkins, 27, posted on X Sunday.
The couple has been dating since January 2023. Their relationship became considerably more visible after Patel was sworn in as FBI director at the beginning of Donald Trump’s second term.
Patel, 46, had been described as an “extraordinarily unqualified sycophant,” but the public attention surrounding his romance has highlighted his commitment to his now fiancée. That commitment has included travel aboard a government issued and taxpayer funded plane.
Patel has used the plane to visit Wilkins when the MAGA country singer performed the national anthem. He has also used it to travel for romantic dates, giving the relationship a distinctly taxpayer assisted glow.
“I’m entitled to a personal life just like my other agency counterparts with their partners,” Patel said on “The Ingraham Angle” in December 2025.
“Do I support my girlfriend? Absolutely. And I do take trips with her? Absolutely.”
The plane travel was not the only element of the relationship to attract attention. Wilkins was also spotted with a federal security detail allegedly while heading to hair appointments and handling other errands.
That arrangement prompted questions about the government resources surrounding Patel’s personal life. Whether the couple’s new status makes such scenes more accepted remains uncertain, but an engagement does not magically turn public resources into party favors.
Details about the wedding have not yet surfaced through the usual online gossip channels. There has been no disclosed venue, musical lineup, drink menu, or other information about what the couple is planning for the ceremony.
Still, the personalities and locations surrounding the couple provide ample material for speculation. One cheeky possibility raised for the event is a celebration at Mar-a-Lago, a suitably gilded backdrop for a couple whose romance has already traveled with official perks.
Wilkins performed at the president’s Freedom 250 Fair, though she may be occupied with other responsibilities on her wedding day. If she does not perform a country song herself, Kid Rock was floated as an official unofficial MAGA musical artist who could fill the gap.
The prospective drink menu offers another opportunity for MAGA themed excess. An open bar stocked with cold ones would give Patel something to chug after saying “I do,” assuming the couple wanted that kind of celebration.
There is also a more conservative option already carrying Patel’s personal stamp. Patel’s self branded whiskey could provide the libations, turning the reception into another chance for the FBI director’s brand to share the spotlight.
For now, the only confirmed development is the engagement itself. The wedding details, venue, entertainment, and refreshments remain in the realm of playful guesses rather than disclosed plans from Patel or Wilkins.
Even so, the announcement gives one of the administration’s most costly couples another reason to celebrate. Their relationship has already mixed romance with government aircraft, federal security attention, political spectacle, and performances associated with Trump’s movement.
With the title of Mrs. potentially awaiting Wilkins, Patel and his fiancée are moving toward marriage under a particularly bright public spotlight. Taxpayers may be forgiven for wondering how many official resources will remain along for the ride.
