WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Video showed Trump standing with his left knee bent inward after a White House luncheon with technology executives.
  • Viewers questioned whether an injury, brace or medical issue could explain Trump’s unusual stance.
  • Previous footage has prompted scrutiny of Trump’s walking, while another appearance showed him apparently struggling to stay awake.
  • More than 30 doctors previously warned about Trump’s “rapidly worsening, reality-untethered, increasingly dangerous decline.”

President Donald Trump’s left leg has become the latest source of alarm after video showed the 80 year old standing with his knee bent inward. The unusual posture appeared as Trump spoke with reporters at the White House on Tuesday.

Trump had just attended a luncheon with technology executives when the footage was captured. Margo Martin, a loyal Trump aide, posted the video showing the president standing with his left leg looking limp and oddly positioned.

The clip quickly generated worried questions about what viewers were seeing. Some people focused on the sharp inward bend of Trump’s knee, while others wondered whether an injury or a medical issue could explain the stance.

“HAVE YOU EVER SEEN SOMEONE STAND LIKE THIS BEFORE,” one concerned person wrote on X. The person added, “I’d seriously love to hear from some medical expert. Is this a sign that he has hurt his leg or is it somehow a sign of cognitive decline.”

Another person suggested that Trump could be wearing a brace on his leg. That claim was not confirmed, but the person argued that the apparent problem had been visible before Tuesday’s White House appearance.

“He has had a leg brace on that one leg for a while. It’s just way more obvious than usual here,” the person claimed. Trump’s right hand also appeared to be covered in makeup during the event.

Commentators and media outlets have previously noted Trump’s unusual movement while walking. Earlier this week, the Irish Star reported that Trump had been “throwing his left leg forward” and had appeared “unusually” unsteady on his feet.

Questions about his movement were also raised following a golf outing at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia in August last year. Trump played with former Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens and Clemens’ son Kacy.

Video from that outing showed Trump walking beside Roger Clemens with apparent difficulty. Trump appeared to move sluggishly while dragging his right leg behind him, adding another clip to the growing collection of footage prompting concern.

“He’s dragging that right leg again, and he can’t walk in a straight line,” Ben Meiselas of MeidasTouch said while reviewing the video. The footage from Tuesday instead drew particular attention to Trump’s left leg and inward bending knee.

The latest video emerged one day after Trump appeared to struggle to remain awake during an event in the Oval Office. He was slumped behind the Resolute Desk during an afternoon announcement about a new $15 billion steel plant planned for eastern Iowa.

The optics became especially brutal because Trump had revived his “Sleepy Joe Biden” nickname for his predecessor only moments earlier. Trump was subsequently mocked as images from the event circulated.

Trump is the oldest person ever inaugurated as president. He is also frequently seen with dark bruises on his hands and swollen ankles, while his public appearances have included mental slips and slurred words.

Trump and the White House have maintained that everything is fine. Yet the explanations have not stopped questions about the president’s condition, particularly as new video clips continue to focus attention on his movements and public appearances.

More than 30 doctors signed a letter earlier this year warning about Trump’s “rapidly worsening, reality-untethered, increasingly dangerous decline.” The doctors described him as “mentally unfit” and called for his removal from office “with the greatest urgency.”

Their warning also pointed to escalating tension around the world and the authority held by the president. They noted that the United States has more than 5,000 nuclear warheads ready to launch on Trump’s order and said no one now has the authority to stop him.

The White House was contacted for comment about the latest footage. For now, the video of Trump’s twisted stance joins previous images of his unusual walk, visible bruises, swollen ankles and apparent difficulty staying awake.
