Mike Pompeo, who formerly served as Secretary of State under Trump, has regained his health since leaving his position, and he revealed that he lost over 90 pounds in just six months. After his time in the Trump administration came to an end, he said that he was able to start exercising regularly and eating healthier.

Pompeo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, and his weight loss was noted by several Fox New’s hosts. In an interview with the New York Post, the former Secretary of State said that he has always struggled with weight loss but it became an even bigger challenge when he was elected to Congress in 2010.

Pompeo even recalled the exact day he decided to start living healthier, when he stepped on the scale and saw that he was reaching almost 300 pounds, so he told his wife Susan that “today is the day” he would turn his life around. He explained that after that day, “I started exercising, not every day, but nearly every day, and eating right and the weight just started to come off.”

He also noted that he did not participate in any diets, or enlist the help of any trainers, dietitians, or any other experts, but simply made a daily effort to live healthier. When it came to going to the gym, he said, “I tried to get down there five, six times a week and stay at it for a half-hour or so.”

Though no one thing can take all the fault, Pompeo said that the biggest obstacle to his health and weight loss was working in a top government position that required him to do a lot of traveling and work nonstop. During his time working in the White House, he said that, “You can ask anybody on my team, they knew exactly what I was going to do: cheeseburger from room service.”
