There have been all sorts of fun going on in Trumplandia lately, what with Mr. ex-president himself, daughter Ivanka, and Donald Trump Jr. all receiving subpoenas as New York Attorney Letitia tightens her lasso around them. So now, just like that, Don Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle have announced they are engaged.

What with all the goings-on, Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle up and announced they been secretly engaged for more than a year, Uproxx reports. The couple dropped the news in an Instagram post, where Guilfoyle can be seen sporting a diamond engagement ring and clearly stating she wants to spend a lifetime with her dearly beloved.

“Tonight was extra special, celebrating @donaldtrumpjr.’s birthday,” she posted. “Don, you are strong, smart, courageous, funny and the love of my life. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together. Love you.”

Then the right-leaning tabloid Daily Mail confirmed the news.

“Don and Kim got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2020 — which is Don’s birthday. They’ve been together for almost four years now and have been friends for 15 years.”

“They’ve kept it private for the past year as they settled into life in Florida after moving from New York,” the Mail reported. “Both are focused on their children — they have six between them — and their work.”

Of course, some folks couldn’t help but notice a suspicious coincidence — the unusually convenient timing of the couple’s announcement. After all, it was just Monday when Don Jr., Ivanka Trump, and dear old dad, former President Donald Trump were subpoenaed by James as part of a civil probe into the family business, otherwise known as the Trump Organization, SkyNews reports.

That didn’t get past folks on social media, many of whom noted spouses can’t be compelled to testify against each other, which kind of well, seems like a big reason for the sudden announcement re their engagement. Oh, I’m sure they love each other. Sure they do.
