Bob Woodward appeared on CNN Monday morning and unloaded an astonishing new report, one that we had not heard before, and one that could end in Trump’s conviction.

Retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg was a longtime Trump confidante and advisor, so much so that Kellogg was in the room on January 6th and saw Trump’s reaction to the riot. Indeed, it appears that it was Kellogg, who eventually persuaded Trump to go on television and ask the rioters to stand down (by that point the National Guard was already learning the building).

Woodward described Kellogg’s role:

Keith Kellogg … is somebody who is a Trump loyalist, but also an institutionalist.

He used to say within the White House that Trump and Pence, the vice president, were fire and ice. You can guess who was fire, Trump, and Pence was ice.”

“Kellogg, as we found from multiple first-hand witnesses, was with Trump on January 6th, in the office with Trump, begging Trump to tweet out to stop the vi0lence, and he said memorably, ‘Mr. President, not everyone is carrying a television on their shoulder,’ says go out and tweet, and this is a mob and when you have a mob, you have lost it.'”

We presume that Kellogg is referencing Trump’s appearance on television, the “Go home, we love you,” video. Kellogg wanted Trump to tweet it out. (It is not entirely clear in context).

“Trump would not respond, and so Kellogg went to find Ivanka Trump, Trump’s daughter, and she went to see Trump, her father, in the Oval Office dining room three times from multiple witnesses, and one of the things she said to President Trump is, let this thing go. Eventually he did tweet but it was delayed.”

The president goes to tweet from the most sophisticated office building on earth. Forgive us if we don’t think the delay was due to anything but Trump refusing to issue it.

“So in a sense, from the point of view of an investigation, having somebody like Keith Kellogg there who was a participant, who is now under oath, you couldn’t get a better witness. It’s somebody that Republicans would have to look at and say, wait a minute, this is a credible strong person, somebody who served in the military for decades.”

Except everyone already knows Trump didn’t  “do anything” even after being told to do it! WE knew that on January 6th! If the Committee wants Trump to see jail time, it will need to prove that this was what was planned all along, probably to either convince Pence to change his mind or get Pence out of the Capitol. (Which might explain why Trump continued to hesitate) or if Trump was in contact with people during the siege.

It is still difficult to imagine charging Trump with the crime of obstructing an official proceeding simply because he didn’t stop it. They need evidence that he knew earlier what the plan might have been and we at this site believe it exists. Somewhere. But we haven’t see it yet.
