Remember January 6th, 2021?
More specifically, do you remember the last 3-4 hours of January 6th, 2021? Two memories come to mind quite quickly to some of us. First of all, there was the relief, an overwhelming sense of relief: “Finally, FINALLY, he’s shown his real colors to such an extent that there’s no coming back, even his party’s disowning him right now.”
And the second thing that some remember – which may have well portended that we were all wrong, we remember watching television that night and we saw plenty of video of what happened, but we didn’t see floodlights everywhere, guys in the cool FBI jackets with badges around their necks, press conferences by top LEO, pols, the type of thing one saw on 9-11, or even at your local huge crime scene. The Capitol just sort of went back to normal as if a giant crime had not been committed.
We never heard that the FBI sent agents to the White House to speak to employees or the president, which – if you really really think about it, should have been something we heard.
We’re coming up on the anniversary of January 6th and we cannot simply let the day pass without acknowledging what happened that day. But what did happen that day? We’re not even entirely sure yet. (Some of us are close enough, we just don’t have the rock-solid evidence a court would require and no police unit (Ahem, FBI) seems interested in rooting it out.)
Given that, but for, the Select Committee (which has been unbelievably courageous but has relatively little power compared to the FBI and DOJ) the day has settled in as “just another thing” on the Right, and Trump is talking about the “real insurrection” of Nov. 3rd, one might really wonder why Trump would call attention to himself on the one day that we were “almost” all united.
It is because of terrible terrible advice according to former Trump Director of Strategic Communications, Alyssa Farah Griffin:
“Well, it’s an interesting question because, keep in mind, the former president has also announced he’ll be hosting a press conference that day, which, I think, if anything proves he’s still getting terrible advice from folks around him.
Thus proving – AGAIN – that Trump, a former president, cannot make decisions for himself.
This would be a wise day for him to stay silent, to let those who were victims on Capitol Hill talk about that very important and solemn day.”
Does she actually get paid to give advice this obvious? The answer is yes – quite a bit – and thus some of us either need to look into new careers or renegotiate our contract with the owner of this site who is as gorgeous as she is educated (which is absurd), sweeter than extra-thick cotton candy, makes one proud to have an IQ that is the square root of hers, and always looks like she’s four years younger than she was last time you saw her. Some of us might ask her for more money.
Regardless, Griffin went on to say that the GOP is in an awkward position. Again, rather obvious, because 365 days ago, they were furious with Trump (most of them).
“But I think instead you’ll hear a very sort of, you know, the tone from him that this was — reiterating the lies that the election was stolen, saying that those who are being tried for the insurrection are political prisoners.
So it’s going to put Republicans on Capitol Hill in a very, a very tight position to be in. What side of this are they going to come down on?”
As obvious as these observations may seem to some, they are, obviously, correct. If one wants a more nuanced opinion, CNN should call some of the employees here, before… we’re making too much money to waste time on CNN. This site’s owner reads every word and knows that some of us can see the most obvious stuff.
