Ted Cruz had to quickly delete a recent Tweet that was attacking “power drunk” progressives for their New Years Eve Covid rules in Washington State when he was alerted that the tweet was not, in fact, about Washington, but coming from Western Australia. Though he took down the Tweet, which featured a Facebook screenshot from the “WA Government” page, it was too little too late for Cruz as his reply was already circulating around the internet.

Cruz’s Tweet tirade called democrats “authoritarian killjoys” and raged against the “Blue-State Dems”, not realizing that, of course, the liberals he were upset with are not even in America. It’s almost as if he looked right past the kangaroos featured in their logo, unless he was under the impression that Washington State also has marsupials.

Adam Kinzinger, who is known for being a rare anti-Trump Republican, sent his own Tweet with a screenshot of Cruz’s deleted reply for all to see. He captioned it: “Since Ted Cruz deleted this, I’ll post as a reminder to all of us to DO YOUR RESEARCH before posting misinformation.”

While Washington State shares the “WA” abbreviation with Western Australia, the latter is the only one of the two that recently announced an increase in COVID measures to help combat spread of the virus as New Year’s Eve approaches. They have announced bans on dancing and night clubs, and asked that those who are celebrating the holiday to do so socially distancing inside their own homes, or outside if social distancing is not possible.

In the past, Cruz has (purposely) complained about Australia’s COVID requirements, calling them tyrannical, while expressing his respect for Australians in general, naming the country the “Texas of the Pacific”. He even said in a statement that, “I love the Aussies”, although clearly that love doesn’t extend to when he accidentally mistakes them for a US State.
