Donald Trump is the Republican Party.
The Republican Party is Donald Trump.
Donald doesn’t care what they call the party. They can call it the GOP, the Republicans, the America Firsts, the MAGAs, or just the Trumps. He needs only two things. He needs complete, unchallenged control over everything, never to be questioned, certainly never opposed. And the other thing he needs is access to their mailing list, the money tree, the thing that’s taken 25-30 years to build. Trump has his “Death Star,” still. It is worth something (Filled with Korean Pop, too). But it’s not the GOP list.
Thus, there is an uneasy truce. Trump is the GOP even though the real decision-makers in the GOP do not, at all, want to cede him that much power.
The dynamic allows Trump to call anyone a RINO if they do not show 100% unwavering loyalty. Any world in which Liz F’ing Cheney – CHENEY – is a Rino, is one where a party isn’t a party. It’s a religion, and Liz is an apostate.
But that is why Trump is so impressed with “leaders” like Lauren Boebert and – as Lauren would say, there enlies the problem. (Yes, she wrote that yesterday. She is dumber than a panda fight.) While McConnell wants a party made up of Rob Portmans, John Cornyns, Rick Scotts, and Marco Rubios, Donald Trump wants a party made up of Ron Johnsons, Tommy Tubbervilles, Marsha Blackburns, Lauren Boeberts, and Marjorie Taylor-Greenes.
Even we Democrats can see a problem in the quality of people occupying both camps. In a national emergency, a true one, you want McConnell and Cornyn helping make decisions over Boerbert and Johnson.
But Boebert has been strong in calling out RINOs and so Trump gave Boebert one of the strongest endorsements we’ve seen yet. Yes, ALL Trump endorsements sound nearly the same, except Trump added one little twist to Boebert’s that made hers much better.
You will have no trouble picking it up:

Trump just called first-term representative Lauren Boebert a “fearless leader.” Ironically, he is probably right. She isn’t bright enough to “fear” anything (“It’s 1776!”), but
she probably has as much power as Kevin McCarthy in real MAGA world.
But more than anything, she can be counted upon to be loyal, loyal in the manner that Donald Trump defines loyalty; worshipful, obedient, humbled (in front of her leader). And even though she cannot define conservatism, while Liz Cheney has lived it, Boebert is a leader in the fight against RINOs.
In the end, that’s all that matters.
