You just know that Stephen Colbert could not wait to get to work yesterday, after all the news about the texts to Meadows broke, texts that involved MAGA pols, the Trump family, and Fox News personalities? All at their most hypocritical? Up against Colbert, who has been absolutely fearless of late. They never stood a chance.

Colbert first talked about the fact that Don Jr. texted Mark Meadows, saying that Trump needed to go to the Oval Office and get “this shit to stop.” Colbert said:

“OK, that reveals two things about Don Jr. One, he knew his dad was responsible and failing to lead. And two, he does not have his father’s cellphone number… Trump knows Don Jr. might give it to Eric.”

Then Trump went after his real target, the only woman who texted Mark Meadows saying “Get him to stop it” while talking about ruining “their” legacy (“their”?). Ingraham then went on television that night to say that there were Antifa and BLM leaders among the crowd. The worst of the worst when it comes to hypocrisy:

“So, the January 6th attack scared Laura Ingraham. And keep in mind, her side gig is appearing in your bathroom mirror if you whisper ‘Medicare for All’ three times.”

After mentioning again that her real reaction, off-camera was; “This is destroying our legacy!” but then moved on-camera to scream “Antifa!” Colbert said:

“Oh, that makes sense. They weren’t his supporters. That’s why, to get them to stop, Laura sent all those panicked texts to the man responsible, President Bob Antifa.”

“Now, keep in mind, these Fox News hosts pushed the big election lie for months leading up to January 6th. Then when their obedient viewers stormed the Capitol, they acted all surprised.”

Colbert said he reminded him of when Charles Manson said, “They did what?! I was kidding! Helter sorry.”

Crushing. Watch.
