At Friday’s daily press conference, Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich asked about the Smollett conviction on five counts for faking a crime. Heinrich almost surely wanted to take advantage of the fact that both President Biden and Vice President Harris showed compassion and anger about what they thought was a crime based upon Smolltett being gay.
“Both the President and Vice President tweeted at the time of the attack.
“The President tweeted: ‘What happened to @JussieSmollett must never be tolerated in this country.’ ‘We are with you, Jussie.’ The Vice President called it an ‘attempted modern-day lynching.’”
“Since the guilty verdict, are there any lessons learned here on rushing to judgment when a crime is alleged?”
That’s a bold statement from a network that favors Trump and there’s been no “rush to judgment” by Biden’s DOJ to investigate or prosecute actions taken leading up to January 6th that most definitely look like crimes.
Jen Psaki proved why she’s a professional Psaki player on the press scene:
“I think there are lessons learned, perhaps for everybody who commented at the time, including former President Trump.”
Jen was expertly telling the press, without saying it, “Go look up what Trump said on the exact same day.”
April Ryan had asked Trump what he thought when he first saw reports of what happened to Smollett first appeared in the media.
“That I can tell you is horrible,” “That I can tell you is horrible. I’ve seen it. Last night. I think that’s horrible. It doesn’t get worse, as far as I’m concerned.”

And that is exactly how you unpin your boss from what now looks like a naive position. But is it? Of course, not. You don’t expect people to make up things like that, 99% of the time. Even we can forgive Trump for immediately believing the story and taking Jussie’s side.
It is probably a good rule of them to believe someone has been victimized if they say they have been. If it proves later to be untrue, you’d rather miss on the side of being caring than cynical. It seems pretty straightforward to anyone who isn’t a Fox News reporter.
