You know your country has taken a u-turn and is now dangerously polarized when night show hosts use their opening time to tear down a party, one party, the Republican party, the only one that deserves to be torn down.
All three traditional hosts are anti-MAGA (Fallon less so than the others, but has left no doubt, either). Stephen Colbert could not make the transition and pretend to be neutral, it just wouldn’t work, and so from the beginning, Colbert was after the Republicans. Kimmel was nearly identical, but especially after his newborn son needed surgery to stay alive. The experience resulted in Kimmel adamantly demanding that everyone’s baby have the access to the healthcare his son received. Kimmel put his entire heart into it while his son’s heart was saved.
And it just continues to intensify. But what option do they have? They’ve witnessed a reckless president ignore the advice of medical professionals. They watched January 6th. They now see a man who refuses to shut up about an election and is threatening our faith in democracy.
They watched the entire right demonize a national treasure, Dr. Fauci.
Last night, Kimmel simply couldn’t take the demonization of Fauci anymore and made sure that the audience knew that it couldn’t possibly happen without an enabler. Without the enabler, we wouldn’t have the problems we have. Fox has normalized and intensified these radical views, Fauci is but one example. Fox is the one making money and destroying democracy by encouraging politicians to take the horrific further and further, to feed off the anger. And Kimmel has had enough. He laid it out in a way that really cannot be denied, pointing out Fauci has given this country 50 years of service under six presidents.
A Republican president gave Fauci the Medal of Freedom, George W. Bush. That was then.
Here is Kimmel, angry, and too accurate:
Jimmy has had enough of scumbags attacking Dr. Fauci! #LeaveFauciAlone pic.twitter.com/zlZCCkytG3

Yes, he called out the politicians, too. But notice the network they spoke to while demonizing Fauci?
