Recently, Donald Trump was forced to sell his luxury hotel based in Washington D.C., due to its huge loss in profits, which finally led him to sell after a mere six previous bankruptcies. According to Eric Trump, however, the reason his dad had to sell was not because of his lack of business savvy, but because he is such a “persecuted” public figures…namely Democrats.
The hotel was bought by CGI Merchant group, who will now turn the site into a Waldorf Astoria. The final sale only totaled $375 million dollars, remarkably less than the initial value that the Trump family paid for it in 2012. This is especially true when taken into consideration the extra amount that was poured into turning it into a luxury hotel.
Not many mourn the loss of the Trump logo that will no longer adorn the building. The hotel has become more famous for being a site of political corruption than it ever was for being a nice place to stay ob vacation. Like many other buildings owned by Donald Trump, it has become more controversial than the room service or hot tub were worth.
Eric Trump’s response to the situation, which implied that his father was a victim, has made him the subject of internet ridicule once again. He has been the center of internet memes and backlash before, most notably when he tried to assist his father in pushing baseless election fraud claims.
His exact words to the Miami Herald were, “Heavy hearts all around. I think it’s safe to say that no public figure in the history of the United States has been persecuted the way Donald Trump has.” Well, the rest of America thinks it is safe to say that Eric Trump would really benefit from picking up a history book.
People on Twitter weren’t having it:
Grift is gone. Can’t force people to stay there. Tarnished brand much?

His real grief, the loss of revenue since he’s no longer able to fleece government visitors and supporters by raising hotel rates to usurious heights every time Trump decided to host an event in D.C.
