On Monday, as White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki held a briefing, she had yet another exchange with Fox’s Peter Doocy, who just can’t seem to ask anything important at all. This time around, Doocy’s focus was on President Biden having called Kyle Rittenhouse a “white supremacist.”
Why did President Biden suggest that Kyle Rittenhouse, on trial in Kenosha, is a white supremacist?
But Jen was tired. So tired of it. As she began to respond, the sigh she let out reverberated through the room.
I don’t know about you, but for me, watching Jen Psaki respond with grace to inane questions that everyone already knows the answer to is quite a departure from the last administration’s press game.
So Peter, what I’m not going to speak to right now is anything about an ongoing trial, nor the president’s past comments. What I can reiterate for you is the president’s view that we shouldn’t have — broadly speaking — vigilantes patrolling our communities with assault weapons.
Unspoken, of course, is the stuff that you or I might say in response to ol’ Pete there. Jen is constrained by the decorum of the Briefing Room, or at least the decorum she’s brought back to it after Sean, Sarah, and Kayleigh hit the road.
What would I say? I would say it’s clear that Kyle is, in fact, a white supremacist because he illegally carried a g*n he shouldn’t have had in his possession into a racially-charged situation that he himself described as dangerous, for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
Clearly he was spoiling for a fight, because there were only 3 people in Kenosha that night who wound up on the wrong end of a g*n, and in each case, Kyle was at the other end of it.
But Jen’s response works, too. I just feel bad that having to answer idiotic questions like that is obviously weighing on her.
Watch:
Seriously, Peter? Let us help, so Jen can have a moment’s peace from you:
Maybe it’s because Kyle is pals with the Proud Boys? pic.twitter.com/dj4z7sNsyN
