People forget that it took John Stewart four to five years to really find his comfort zone on the Daily Show. They also forget how many people were hired prior to Stewart that never lasted more than a year or two. When Stewart retired, the obvious choices were Steven Colbert (until he signed his CBS deal), Samantha Bee, or John Oliver.
The Daily Show shocked everyone, picking relative newcomer Trevor Noah. It took Noah a couple of years, just as it did Stewart, to make the show his, his pace, his priorities, his personality. Now, the Daily Show is where it was under Stewart’s best years, a sure thing, nearly every night, something people can watch and get genuine news.
We are also blessed by the fact that Noah, as a black South African, brings a unique perspective that none of the above had (though Samantha is Canadian). Noah is at his best describing the racial dynamic in the United States and how much it resembles his home country of South Africa.
As we go into the week in which we’re likely to hear the Rittenhouse verdict(s), it might be best to hear the issue framed perfectly by someone who looks at us from the inside out and outside in and then expresses his observations brilliantly, a man comfortable in his own skin, knowing skin color means a lot:

How does one argue around that?
It is unfortunate that all too many police officers became police officers for the exact same reason. (We are overgeneralizing on that, to be sure.) It used to be a point of pride for a cop to retire without ever once firing his weapon. Perhaps, for the best, it still is.
They say Rittenhouse reveres police officers. Unfortunately, today’s youth, especially on the Right, believe that regular police duties include sh00ting people. That is why Rittenhouse drove to Wisconsin. It was not to protect property. As Noah said all too well, Rittenhouse came to Wisconsin hoping to discharge his weapon, like the officers he revered.
