In an hour and a half interview with ABCs Jon Karl back in March, Donald Trump was asked whether or not he was worried about his Vice President during the Capitol siege where protesters called for Pence’s hide.

Actually, it wasn’t his hide that they called for — it was his neck. Some even brought prop nooses to the event.

On Friday, Axios published the audio of that interview, and Trump’s response was shocking. Okay, maybe not shocking because he’s Trump. But it was gross, anyway.

“No, I thought he was well-protected, and I had heard that he was in good shape,” Trump told Karl. Ironically, we have reported here that Pence was actually stashed away in an underground parking garage below the White House, and that his chief of staff showed him a tweet from Trump calling him a coward.

If Mike Pence had been topside and present during that siege, there is little doubt that the crowd would have done him harm.

“You heard those chants — that was terrible,” said Karl. “They were saying ‘Hang Mike Pence.'”

“Because it’s common sense, Jon,” Trump said. “It’s common sense that you’re supposed to protect. How can you … if you know a vote is fraudulent, right? How can you pass on a fraudulent vote to Congress? How can you do that?”

Reactions to hearing Trump call the violent chanting “common sense” were swift across the internet.

This is why Trump is no longer in office. Enough people finally realized how batsh*t crazy he is, and they voted him out before he could do any more harm to this country.
