Earlier we reported on a statement from Donald Trump about sending Ric Grenell to the border of Serbia and Kosovo to “highlight” a peace deal his administration had brokered while he was in office. That set off remarks across the internet about the ex-president’s apparent belief that he never left office.

Trump’s spokeswoman Liz Harrington continued to circumvent Twitter’s ban on the former president by tweeting out his entire statement from her own account:

Obviously, Trump thought that Grenell was there on official business, since he mentioned what was “at stake” if his plans didn’t go through. But again, Grenell doesn’t have a job, and certainly not one working for Trump, who is no longer a government employer.

Well, the White House clearly heard about it as well, and they thought it was as funny as the rest of us did. In a response to White House reporter Philip Wegmann regarding the statement, an official basically told him that Trump was out of his mind:

Nobody will ever forget what an active imagination Donald Trump has always had, especially in light of his comments during his time in the Oval Office that Article II of the Constitution existed to let him do “whatever” he wanted as president.

We’re just thankful that his very active imagination is invariably wrong.
