There are certain celebrities, not even the biggest of the big, that have a huge following on Twitter. Sure, Leonardo DiCaprio has 19 million followers and uses his account as a powerful voice for the environment and social justice. This is, of course, to be expected. Leonardo might be the biggest name in film to ever live. (Close, with Meryl Streep)

Mark Hamill is certainly not an “unknown,” he’s famous. But he was one of those actors sooo associated with one role, he never really got a shot at significant roles in other projects. It would just be Luke Skywalker playing “Ed” in your movie. Regardless, an unexpectedly ridiculous five million people follow Hamill, in part because he specializes in devastating all things MAGA.

As but a few examples (We will get to the Jedi-like one below):

Yes, we covered the “Big Bird-gate” last night, Republicans are furious that Big Bird encouraged kids to get vaccinated, in the same way, Sesame Street encourages children to be nice to one another, even POC, how very radical and suspicious, and learn the letter “R.”

Hamill knows who he is, and has a little bit of fun with that side. It serves to do nothing but make him that much more credible and likable. He feels like one of “us,” just one of the family opposing all things insanely Right-wing political. Here he is, just being part of the gang.

Okay, so having established that his voice matters, a lot, Hamill did two special things today. He made it 100% clear that all the science around vaccination is 100% political because society used to be in total agreement about these things.

And, just to needle the MAGAs a bit, he used a little of what surely has to be some fond nostalgia even among the MAGAs to make his second point. Vaccinations are safe and have been since Star Wars was released:

Yeah, he’s worth following. He is a nice guy and he really does troll the MAGAs with a special “force,” almost like he was born with it.
