The staff at this site must make it clear that we are using what we consider very responsible speculation as to the ultimate reason Melania wore her “I Don’t Care, Do U” jacket on her visit to the border, given the description of the scenario from Stephanie Grisham’s new book “I Will Take Your Questions Now.”
Melania didn’t care about the visit, or the, people – including the kids down on the border. The White House likely planned the visit a week before. Melania would be dispatched in an effort at damage control, but she wanted to make the statement, even though we’re told that Melania disagreed with the immigration policies themselves.
The book doesn’t specifically state that Melania wanted to tell the world that she didn’t care about the people she was about to meet, but to believe otherwise, someone has to explain why it would be that Melania would order a $39 jacket days ahead of time and wear it once, on that particular trip.
The first lady had been upset by the situation her husband’s immigration policies had caused and wanted to see it for herself. For reasons that still remain a mystery, she’d ordered a $39 jacket online from Zara. Grisham said she was on her phone ironing out details for the trip and missed the chance to stop Melania Trump from wearing it.
It was just a jacket, Melania said, as she huddled with Grisham for a damage-control session on the plane.
Oh, fck off Mel. It was not “just a jacket.” It was a jacket with a gigantic message, impossible to miss, on the back, ordered – seemingly – for this particular trip. Melania doesn’t wear $39 socks while playing tennis, never mind jackets. It is also worth noting that Grisham describes the situation in a way that removes her from any responsibility. One can decide for themselves whether to believe whether Grisham is telling the truth. It is reasonable to believe that she would be busy with last-minute details.
As she often did, Melania miscalculated the country’s rage upon seeing the jacket. But Trump heard about the rage and apparently went into a rage himself:
As they arrived back at the White House, an aide told them the president wanted to see his wife in the Oval Office. It was the first time he’d ever summoned her in such a way in front of staff. He yelled and asked “what the [expletive]” they thought they were doing. Then just as quickly he came up with a solution. He would tweet out that the jacket was a message to the Fake News Media.
It’s the story that the first lady repeated four months later in her first and only televised interview during the administration.
Quite literally, everything that ever went wrong in that White House was “fake” and the media’s fault. Everything. The public is left with only one sensible conclusion, the same one we’ve had all along. To believe that Melania didn’t want the message out, that she didn’t care about the people she’d visit, one has to believe Melania was into ordering $39 jackets, and “not caring” about the gigantic message on the back.
We “speculate” that is not even remotely possible.
