Those of us who are Gen-X on up might want to be a bit careful in lobbing shots at the Millenials and Zoomers. To be sure, a lot of them deserve to be put in their place a bit. They are, after all, a little less experienced at this life thing. But when throwing out some criticism, just know, that the young’uns have an arsenal of weapons on social media and they are much better at these dark arts.
Sarah Palin gave us a wonderful example of what happens when one is not even a wee bit careful. Sarah appeared on Fox recently to back up Greg Abbott’s draconian abortion law and needlessly made the issue center around AOC. In doing so, she brought upon herself a needlessly self-inflicted would:
Wow, AOC, she’s really milkin’ this…. She’s such a fake feminist that she would bring up an issue like this and try to use it to make some kind of political point. That’s not equality, right? Oh, man, don’t even get me started on this. It just makes my stomach sick what she has done. She should be embarrassed…. She’s so off base politically, but even off base even in, um, this analogy or whatever it is that she’s throwin’ out there. She’s milkin’ the whole female thing. And as a real feminist, I’m embarrassed for her.”
And up with that, AOC wouldn’t put. Rather than answer Sarah with any seriousness (none of which would be earned), she dropped a sarcasm bomb, which is infinitely worse on the receiving end.
“I’m so sorry Sarah Palin is mad at me! In fact, to address this I set up a special hotline just for her.”
Ocasio-Cortez, in the video she tweeted, said — in a mocking tone — “Does my existence make you mad? Does the fact that, yes, I am a mouthpiece for the people of New York’s 14th Congressional District upset you? Well, I have help for you. Call 1-800-CRY-NOW. That’s 1-800-CRY-NOW.”
