This Sunday, we’ve already reported on the fact that Melania doesn’t want anything to do with a 2024 White House run, nor does she want to be First Lady again. But CNN reported a smaller detail that, in the larger picture of things, deserves its own story. We, as taxpayers, are paying for Melania to have an office that is primarily a public relations firm, one that exists only to respond to criticism, promote her past, and write Thank You notes.

We suspect that if Melania ever did have anything to promote, such as continued work on the “Be Best” campaign, it would be done out of that office and could be justified. But Melania doesn’t do any work of any discernable type, other than the work of being a wealthy woman, who – other than Barron, has no higher purpose than pampering herself.

As CNN reports:

In February she announced the opening of her office, which three people with knowledge say is currently operating from Palm Beach with a staff of two to three full-time employees, two of whom held jobs in the Trump White House. The introduction of Trump’s official post-White House endeavors came via a February tweet from the office, stating, “Mrs. Melania Trump is announcing the opening of The Office of Melania Trump. Please follow this account for news and updates.”

Since then, the account has been a string of throwbacks and thank you’s, with no announcements on any ongoing initiative objectives, policies, charity events, speeches or public appearances.

In this case, “throwbacks” means responding to criticism. Below is but one perfect example of the “work” for which we are paying:

How can people believe any of the books discussing Mrs. Trump’s life? Stories about her are idle gossip, many of which are misleading, and only some the truth. Writers have no credibility. Books are fiction, and readers should be cautious about what they choose to believe,” said the Office of Melania Trump in a tweet.

That’s all it does because that’s all it can do. Again, Melania isn’t showing up in Phoenix or Dallas with a “Be Best” message and promotion. She is sitting in the spa at Mar-a-Lago and planning Barron’s next move. Michelle Obama does even more work now than when First Lady and yet manages to do it all within the Office of Barrack Obama, which they advertise as the office of Barrack and Michelle Obama, no extra staff needed.

We cannot let this go without one more observation. “Writers have no credibility. Books are fiction.”

Shut-up, please. Grow-up, while you are at it. If something is untrue, correct what you believe to be untrue. Do NOT say “writers have no credibility, and books are fiction,” because every writer that ever wrote a glowing piece about you was perfectly correct. Oh, and a secret Mel, not all books are fiction.

Someone get her a copy of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s book “Astrophysics for People in a Hurry,” which spent forever at number one in the NY Best Seller list. Clearly, Melania is in a hurry, what with being Mel and all. She will find a non-fiction book written by a credible writer.

The point is that we are paying for an office without any “work” to do except promoting “Melania” the image, which is the only thing she ever really worked at anyway.
