Anytime one finds themselves getting completely sick of this country, convinced that it will never be “great again,” one has to look at how far and how fast we have come with our LGTBQ family. There are some of us that have been in college within 30 years ago and went from thinking being gay was “okay” just a bit “weird,” and gay marriage as a laughable proposition, to now looking at a gay cabinet member and his husband adopting a baby boy and girl, while having dozens of gay friends over the years and a daughter that owns three Pride shirts.
Does anyone doubt that the Buttigiegs will be wonderful parents? Chasten, Pete’s husband, is a teacher, now more in charge of the curriculum in the district than actual classroom time. Clearly, Chasten has more power to touch more lives. They seem like a wonderful couple and that’s what makes this so wonderful:
Chasten and I are beyond thankful for all the kind wishes since first sharing the news that we’re becoming parents. We are delighted to welcome Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg to our family.
So Penny and Joey? Could that possibly be cuter? And prepare to just melt all over this picture because in this pic, we get to see that these babies did awfully well for themselves:

Amazing. I had one of those four years ago, but somehow she’s about to turn 14 and let’s me know it, daily. I am sure that many can relate.
Yes, there are a lot of reasons to fear for this country’s future, and we’re certainly going the wrong way as a whole, but one need only look at our far our family members in the LGTBQ family have come to see that change is possible.
