Yesterday we reported on the fact that hurricane Ida slammed into the home of John Schneider, “Bo Duke,” of yesteryear, and caused a lot of damage, including taking out the “General Lee,” which seems appropriate now but again, we were being nostalgic as people of a certain age. We also mentioned that he seemed to be a good guy (And, confession corner, part of that was based on meeting the man long ago). He asked for donations to go to people in need and only asked people to consider doing business with him to help him out.
The story has changed, to say the least. John Schneider is one of two things or both. He is either a fairly evil MAGA or a fairly dumb MAGA, and, obviously, those two are not mutually exclusive. Speaking on Fox this morning, Schneider made a plea that everyone work together, that we set aside division and remain “united.” Okay, good so far.
Then he said that they don’t need the government coming in:
“We need to throw away all this B.S. about division. We need to remain united. The biggest strength we have in this country is ourselves… We need each other desperately. We don’t need the government coming in.
Evidently, Schneider is confused about who plays the role of “the government” in a democracy. In a democracy, the government is “us,” united. It will be our tax dollars helping his area and the people we elected as fellow citizens doing the work.
“Apparently Biden is going to come show his face in Louisiana and I wish he wouldn’t. We’ve got more problems on our hands. We don’t need him. Obviously, there are things going on in this country now. People need your prayer, they need your help.
It took Steve Doocy (for God’s sake) to tell Schneider that Biden will be the one bringing the relief money and tax dollars, that he is coming to hear about what is needed where and to represent the country, letting people know we care.
We sincerely apologize for missing the mark in yesterday’s report.
