As we reported just two days ago now, Trump issued a “statement” (through the Twitter account of his current spokesperson Liz Harrington, who is conveniently providing an effective means around his Twitter ban), the statement came out just hours after news of the jaw-dropping, breathtaking, House Select Committee request for documents from eight different departments going all the way back through the Big Lie process.

Except now we hear that the request goes back even further than had been reported. Rawstory has an excellent breakdown of why Trump might be in a panic. Is the committee on to why he hated mail-in voting?

There are requests for documents going back as far as April of 2020, prompting MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow to ask Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Ms, what lawmakers were looking for. His reply? They have information that he can’t go into but which is credible enough that they are seeking evidence to prove it.

Recall, April 2020 was about the time that Trump was starting to rail against mail-in voting, following up on his 2016 strategy by laying the groundwork to reject the results of the election unless he was declared the winner. Perhaps Thompson believes this strategy may have been more formal than it seemed?

So, first. They have information already pertaining to what went on in April. This isn’t a fishing expedition. They already have some information and now they’re looking to confirm it. They believe the information because “It is credible.”

And, second. This was the precise time that Trump started complaining about mail-in voting. We don’t want to irresponsibly read too much into it. But isn’t it weird that Trump has mentioned many times, that “they say all I needed was 65 million votes and I would win. No president has ever gotten 75 million votes?” It almost seems like Biden’s number is irrelevant. It almost seems as though Trump and company had the means to ensure that they’d come in somewhere between 70 to 75 million or so and he is simply flabbergasted that their “guess” is not enough? Did he realize in April that mail-in voting changed the equation altogether? That they would need far more votes?

We have to walk a very very fine line here regarding responsible speculation and analysis. But we do know that the Russians have been and continued to “meddle” in our elections. How much did they meddle? Recall that Mitch McConnell asked each senator for a personal favor, regarding an independent commission. Is it possible that the Russians (or someone else) has been meddling, “adding,” votes for Republicans in certain elections? We know the lengths Trump went to after the election to “win,” is it possible he availed himself of just as criminal and horrific behavior
