Anyone who has followed this site today knows just about everything there is to know about the sweeping document request filed this morning by the House Select Committee looking into January 6th and its roots. As we’ve noted before, the committee could have chosen to laser focus on the week prior to January 6th, almost like police work, trying to find evidence of a specific time.

Instead, they did the opposite and want to know everything there is to know about the Big Lie that begat the January 6th riot.

Throughout the day, legal analysts and political hacks have spoken in breathless tones regarding the committee’s bold move. We suppose it was inevitable that we’d hear from Trump. Clearly, Trump is facing what amounts to the congressional equivalent of a criminal investigation. Clearly, he would be better served by keeping his fat and untethered mouth shut. Clearly, if he had nothing to worry about, he wouldn’t be paying attention. But Trump pays attention when he has something to worry about. Ask James Comey. Trump is also prone to obvious panic attacks and he lashes out in ad hominem attacks, as he did tonight. This has to be the first time in history someone has referenced a Cheney (who is on the committee) as a “leftist.”

Donald Trump seems to be under the impression that everything done within the executive branch is out of reach of congress, it is all executive privilege, congress cannot have a thing. There is nothing in this statement that is coherent and so we suggest it be read for what it is, a full-blown panic attack:

“The Leftist “select committee” has further exposed itself as a partisan sham and waste of taxpayer dollars with a request that’s timed to distract Americans from historic and global catastrophes brought on by the failures of Joe Biden and the Democrats.

“Unfortunately, this partisan exercise is being performed at the expense of long-standing legal principles of privilege. Executive privilege will be defended, not just on behalf of my Administration and the Patriots who worked beside me…

“but on behalf of the Office of the President of the United States and the future of our Nation. These Democrats only have one tired trick—political theater—and their latest request only reinforces that pathetic reality.”

It wasn’t political theatre when Biden organized the vaccine delivery, it wasn’t political theatre when Biden got the checks out, the ones that Trump couldn’t pull off, it wasn’t political theatre when Biden and the Democrats got the infrastructure bill passed, getting out of Afghanistan isn’t political theatre, and it isn’t political theatre that they’re on the brink of passing a massive stimulus package.

This investigation is a side job. They are just trying to figure out who attempted to steal democracy from this country. The Republicans were invited to sit side by side, 50% partners. They chose not to do so, precisely because they wanted to accuse leftists of playing political games. It is not working. It is scaring Trump at vein and Xanax popping levels… Which means he has something to fear.
