Normally, we try to stay away from the all too easy potshots at the White House Press Corps. Because it is “too easy.”

Whether it is acknowledged or not, two things are undeniable. First, an assignment as a major correspondent in America’s White House is one of the most sought-after journalism jobs in the United States, only the ultra-elite are even considered. The women have to be even better because not only do they have to be elite, too often they also have to be beautiful. Second, it is far harder than it looks to “do journalism” in real-time. We are a news site that doesn’t “break” news, we report news out there and then break it down with our unique analysis and opinion, which is not easy, either. But of the two versions, the White House press corps has the harder job and runs a far bigger risk of embarrassing themselves because of the time constraints and decisions made on the fly, all so they can then get on the lawn and get their live shots done.

But we reserve a special right to criticize Peter Doocy of Fox News. The last name alone sort of makes one wonder whether that “elite of the elite” fits in this situation. No doubt, he’s a good-looking guy, and probably a fraction smarter than the average joe (splitting atoms here) but all too often he appears to be significantly in over his head and never more so than when he thinks he can back Psaki into a corner with a gotcha question. Psaki is one of the best press secretaries we’ve seen, but she isn’t infallible, either. It is possible for a very experienced, very prepared, journalist, without an agenda, to back her into an uncomfortable corner, every once in a while. It is just that Peter Doocy isn’t that person and yet he tries it daily. In eight months he hasn’t figured it out, which might also be indicative of something.

Thus it is that day after day, week after week, we get to what amounts to a sitcom, one involving some of the most serious issues of the day, because Peter Doocy refuses to concede that he’s far better served simply asking broad questions about White House policy rather than trying his newest version of “Can you please explain why President Biden is the worst president ever” question.

Our brothers at MT just put together a greatest hits video. The timing is perfect. Eight months in the life of a press secretary is like eight years for a band and so a greatest hits video, when she’s averaged at least two a week, seems right on time. These videos are effective (We know because the MAGAs complain so much), but they don’t make themselves. We have no financial relationship with MT, we’re just fans of each other and support each other. So if you can drop them a buck or two, it makes a difference:
