“I’m shaking hands with everybody backstage. I say, ‘Well, I don’t know, is this a good thing or bad?’ You’ll read about it three or four days, maybe. Hopefully not.”

Donald Trump at Cullman Alabama (Video Below)

Cullman, Alabama is a town with about 18,000 people located halfway between Birmingham and Hunstville, the state’s two largest cities, and certainly one of the primary reasons Trump chose to hold his “rally” in that specific town on Saturday night. It is nearly impossible to state how irresponsible it was for Trump to hold the rally and for local officials to actually allow the rally. There was a ray of hope on Friday when Cullman declared a COVID state of emergency. One would think that the declaration would cancel all events for which 2o,000 people were anticipated (for god’s sake). But no. This is a very red state. And it’s Trump, who is there for a “rally,”  his mainline I.V. shot of narcissistic opioid. No chance it was going to be canceled.

There should be no doubt about this, the worst COVID surge in Alabama – until now, had been in January of 2021. As of August, in Alabama in particular, right now, the COVID numbers per week are almost double what they were in January, and the numbers are worse in Texas and Florida. Yet there are arguments across the south about masks and football. Meanwhile, a completely meaningless, needless, ridiculous, rally occurred last night in which Trump didn’t say a single thing that people hadn’t already heard except… with maybe one exception. He did joke about the Delta variant, you know, that one that is taking the lives of young and younger people?

It is less about shaking hands than it is about not being vaccinated and not wearing masks you stupid fffff. To Trump’s credit (we have to credit the very few things to justify our many blasts), Trump did advocate that they get vaccinated. But it’s a little late. Especially given that he was booed, by a maskless crowd, packed in close, and – again, booing vaccinations during the worst epidemic in at least 100 years, and the worst month of the epidemic yet.
