The fact that the Republicans in the Senate dropped their demands for the investigation and opposed it anyway – on the personal favor requested by Mitch McConnell – is all the evidence we need to conclude that there was very sophisticated coordination starting at the very top.

On Friday morning, Reuters came out with a jaw-dropping report saying that the FBI isn’t finding any central coordination of January 6th. It was and remains one of the most heart-breaking pieces of news we’ve heard in a month, at least with respect to political news.

For those that missed it, here is the abbreviated version from The Daily Beast:

Over 570 alleged rioters have been arrested since the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January—but the FBI has reportedly found little evidence that the riot was an organized plot to overturn Donald Trump’s election defeat. Citing four unnamed current and former law enforcement officials said to be familiar with the investigation, Reuters reports that the FBI has so far found scant evidence to suggest that the riot was centrally coordinated by far-right groups, the former president himself, or his close allies. “Ninety to ninety-five percent of these are one-off cases,” one former law enforcement official said of the hundreds of riot-related arrests.

We are not special agents, but we do watch them on television and the ones we’ve watched are all but certain there was very sophisticated coordination that started at the “top.” Define top however you’d like. But if the FBI wants some hints, they are not going to find evidence of that “coordination” by starting at the bottom. They are only going to find it if they start with people at or near the top and one gets the impression that they simply don’t want to do that.

Unless it is a Hillary Clinton case.

But the report unleashed a torrent of anger on the web, some of which we published this morning. Now it’s led to “citizen sleuths” helping the FBI out a bit in pointing to evidence of coordination. Evidently, they need it.

Again, these are low-level folks and their plan. But they definitely heard something was going down from higher up. Lets look at some higher-level people:

A sheriff's deputy who assaulted U.S. Capital police on Jan 6
Roger Stone w/ties to Proud Boys & Oath Keepers.
TFG & Mo Brooks w/their inciting speeches.
Parler & Facebook data.

There's plain-sight evidence of Trump's incitement, aided by the whole sad crew of Stone, Jones, Bannon, Gosar, Cawthorn, Cruz, Hawley, and the rest. If you can endure the self-celebration, there's substantial evidence of coordination collected by Seth Abramson, WH to militias.

Below, we are hearing from conservatives that it’s because the FBI is covering its ass in organizing it. IF it is any CYA it is that it allowed it to happen in the first place. More likely, Wray is still a Trumper, so are others in the FBI, or, the other possibility is that the evidence against Trump is so overwhelming that they really don’t believe the public can handle it.
