This is disgusting. This is just how politicized our politics has become.
We have a mother bragging that she loves it when her child gets sick because that’s how they develop a healthy immune system.
Tell that to a mother whose baby is in the ICU right now with either the flu or COVID.
There is a t-shirt out there, some of us have. On the front, it reads “SCIENCE: Because Making Things Up Is Not Okay.” Lara Trump is making things up.
Our scientists know that COVID is a new virus and very unpredictable. Look at the delta variant? Who saw that coming? Well, a lot of people saw mutations coming, but who saw one that would be this contagious, this much more powerful, one that impacted younger people far more than garden variety COVID?
We know some people who didn’t, those at Pfizer, whose vaccine is 42% less effective versus the delta variant than Moderna. (But it still protects people from going to the hospital, or being short of breath.) It isn’t Pfizer’s fault. It could just as easily have been a mutation that put Moderna on the other side of the fence.
But Lara Trump knows more than all these people at the CDC and can tell it like it is on Fox News:
My daughter, Carolina, last week had a cold. Every parent knows that’s a nightmare. I have to tell you, I was so thrilled because I know that she is actually getting in contact with viruses and germs and bacteria that will allow her to develop an immune system.”
And guess what, Lara? Until COVID came along, the CDC didn’t recommend masks for children for colds, and they come into plenty of contact with bacteria Lara. Do you serve your kids raw chicken, Lara? Lots of good bacteria in raw chicken. Gotta develop that immune system, don’t you?
Science, because making things up is not okay.
