From a scene in the West Wing, President Bartlett responds to an assertion by his opponent, the American people know how to spend their money better than the federal government: (Video Below)
“There it is, there’s the ten-word answer that my staff’s spent a week looking for, there it is. Ten-word answers are the tip of the sword in politics. Here is what I want to know, what are the next ten words to your answer, your taxes are too high? So are mine, give me the next ten words, How are we going to do it, give me another ten and I’ll drop out of the race… in a country way too big for ten word answers.”
Ten-word answers are a lot like tweets. In an interview with Mediaite, Jen Psaki was asked about how she approached the job. She said she was doing what President Biden expects from his White House, respecting the intelligence of the American people. Jen then slammed Trump, in a Psaki sort of way by essentially saying that he did not respect anyone:
I mean, look, I think what I go in there every day trying to do is what I think the president asked me to do, and wants us all to do, which is to use the briefing room and the forum of communicating from the White House as a as a mechanism for sharing information, not treating the American people like they just need, you know, tweets. Right? Treating the American people with the intelligence and the content and the information they deserve.
And boom goes the dynamite. (Deep insider reference.) She nailed Trump for governing by tweet (ten-word answers) because they don’t give the American people the intelligent content and information, they deserve. She just said – without saying – that’s all Trump did.
And then she went to Trump and Kayleigh, about not tolerating misinformation because that’s disrespectful of the American people.
And also, at the same time, not being tolerant of misinformation or misleading information, because the public deserves better. So I don’t, I hope people don’t see it that way.
That’s a mouthful right there, without mentioning any names or even being specific. Nice job, Jen.
Oh! And Jen is surely a fan of this:
