How much would it suck to be evil enough to qualify for the “evil” in an evil villain, but be too stupid to be convincing, or even interesting, so as to be called a “villain”? You’re just an evil criminal. The difference is everything and Stephen King knows it.

It is boring! We had an evil president and he sure as hell wasn’t book smart, or even smart, but he did have genius elements. Trump was genius in his insecurities,” he was genius in his pomposity, and he was ingeniously oblivious to his lack of education. They talk about perfect storms? God created the genius and occasionally laughably horrific person, all wrapped up in a textbook case of sociopathic narcissism. It was all awful and we all have PTSD, but it was never boring.

You cannot have boring, ask Stephen King, or our accountant.

But now we’re off track, right now, Florida would give anything to have “boring,” but instead they have Ron DeSantis, who has all that evil sh*t and no “genius” anything, even the uneducated stuff! DeSantis is educated just enough to pull off an 8th grade reading level or SATs that would qualify him for the local community college, and that takes away any of the “interest” needed to be a true character. And we have it on impeccable authority, none other than the genius of evil genius, Stephen King, who told Colbert.

The story, as told by AV Club:

So that’s evil, but is it Stephen King evil? Not according to King, who greeted Colbert’s pitch for a future fictional Florida governor villain with the dismissive shrug of a guy who knows what makes a truly compelling antagonist. After all, your best Stephen King monsters (your Greg Stillsons, your Randall Flaggs) couple their nefarious machinations with a complexity of thought and more than a little charisma, whereas, in King’s authorial estimation, Florida is currently being led by a garden variety venal, callous dope, whose threadbare conservative posturing couldn’t sustain even the shortest tale of terror.

Wow, we tend to use a little “Flare” in our political reporting, but that’s a little too self-impressed, even for us. Still, it’s a good point, it’s just better to hear it from Stephen himself:

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?
