Rick Wilson is the man who brought us the original book Everything that Trump Touches Dies, which proved to be such a solid observation that it became a meme going forward, running as strong now as ever. Prior to this year, some of us had fairly elite, year long classes in constitutional law and had no idea about clauses pertaining to the first week of January and opening ballots, none. It was a “formality.” Or, it was a formality until it got into Trump’s hands and we almost lost democracy over it. Now, a section we’d never heard of came within a hair of working to steal an election and steal democracy.

Whether one wants to remain cynical about the Lincoln Project’s underlying motivation (as much to get rich as oppose Trump and his supporters) or not – we choose to lean on the side of people’s better angels. But no matter how one feels about Wilson personally, his predictions on the demise of the American Right and the Republican party have bee perfect for years. Now we’re not just destroying Republicans, we’re doing the entire country.

Wilson sees the marriage of GOP and COVID into a problem that will keep this country standing still, possibly never to retain superpower status. According to his tweet thread:

“Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. America and all the ships at sea,” Wilson began. “Let’s review the bidding: the governors of two of the largest states are letting COVID burn because muh freedumb plays to an audience of a network owned by a crank Aussie billionaire.”

“Yesterday, one member of the US Senate said it was just fine for a President of the United States to plot an overthrow of the election with his claque of skells, mooks, jabrones, degenerate fops, soulless harpies, wannabe Leninists, and natpop snake-human hybrids.”

Wilso was talking about Chuck Grassley who without any shred of self asareness, accused “one party” or trying to change the way we govern in America. Wilson also went after Rant Paul.U.S. Senator is the leading antivaxxer in American public life, again lying that muh freedumb is at stake if we all just try to work together to defeat COVID. There’s a reason he’s a consistent finalist on America’s Most Punchable.

Wilson then lashed out at the for-profit WinRed PAC, which he called an “interlocking set of quasi-lawless griftmachines bleeding granny of her social security checks,” and then bashed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for moving to ban mask and vaccine mandates.

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?

There is grift on both sides, no doubt. As we said, the LP makes money. But there’s nowhere close to the degree of grift seen in the Right  Wing over here. If we did the exact same thing we do here, on the left, but did it as a MAGAzine, we could add a zero to every number coming in. That’s just peanuts compared to what Hannity makes on Fox, and Tucker has to get up there, too – eventually. Kayleigh’s waiting in the wings.

But trust us, nothing sells better than outrage. And so we have to find some balance in reporting the facts versus the outrage. Fox just wants outrage and that is exactly why Rick Wilson thinks this is how the world ends. All the money squeezed out of the right is contingent on rage. We had COVID, it was terrible, people died, people had to wear masks, and then we got a vaccine…. make the vaccine an outrage! Start anew…

These people are there to spread the outrage on Fox, it is pro-wrestling. But in this match, the loser loses and there need not even be a “winner,” it’s possible that everyone can lose. These conservatives are not in Washington to “get along with” liberals. And they will take the entire ship to the bottom if it means they “owned the libs” that day. Wilson is exactly right.
