Yesterday we published a report on the fact that, apparently, Melania had too little to do even for Melania, and took up a year-old battle with Michael Beschloss, the presidential historian who had been a vicious critic of Melania’s “redone” Rose Garden. Melania felt the need to claim that Beschloss was “dishonorable” (yes, coming from Melania, that’s butter, pureed with whip cream), and that, unlike Melania, people shouldn’t take Vanderbilt University Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss seriously.

We wrote:

Two aspects of Melania Trump are rock-solid certain: 1) She believed she was entitled to everything she had, she had earned it and was special enough to be that special person, 2) Melania does want Melania wants. When she continued to hear that she was the modern Jackie Kennedy, what was she to do? Re-do the perfectly good Rose Garden and make it more amenable to high heels.

The Hill sets up the context, but we’re going to add some.  An important point is getting left out:

Melania wanted people to know that the Rose Garden was beautiful, which completely misses the point!

The point is that some elements of our civic religion become sacrilegious. We gave the example that the Washington monument is actually a terrible monument to our first president. How does a big Egyptian Obelisk remind people of our first president and his sacrifices for this country? It doesn’t. It’s a beautiful piece and if one is into the Masons and Illuminati (which is a bad idea), it’s right up your alley, but it has fck-all to do with George Washington.

So let’s build a new one! Let’s build a real Washington monument, like Lincolns… no of course not!! As stupid as it is as a monument to Washington, it is a stunningly beautiful piece of our national history.

In that way, it is just like Jackie Kennedy’s Rose garden! The Rose Garden needed work on drainage and some modernization. It did not need an overhaul, nor should it have ever needed an overhaul. For sixty years it was part of the White House’s beauty and power it its original design. The Rose Garden, as designed, was part of history, whether Melania thinks hers is beautiful or not.

We don’t care if Melania made it better! (She most certainly DID NOT). It shouldn’t have been changed, and her pouting about it got her what she deserved, a title  wave of “Aren’t You Irrelevant by Now?” tweets:
