We have already reported on Trump’s dangerous and angry statement regarding Fox News’ coverage of the AP investigation finding insignificant and minimal fraud in Arizona’s election. We generally ignore the four to five Trump statements he issues every day. But given that this morning’s statement constituted a significant danger, it is only fair that we report on a wonderfully entertaining and funny one that also emerged from his mind this morning.

He is mad that this weekend’s British Open isn’t being played at one of his clubs, as if any club is entitled to host such a significant tournament.

The golf context is easily explained for those with busy lives and no interest in the sport. Every year, elite professional touring players from all over the world qualify for what golf considers the four “major” tournaments. Three of them are played at different famous courses each year. The U.S. Open and PGA Championship are played in the U.S. The Masters is played at the same course each year, and the British Open is played all over Great Britain, of course.

The clubs that host the rotating courses get extremely valuable coverage that results in the public wanting to play the courses. Trump’s clubs in Scotland are losing money at an astonishing rate and, of course, Trump believes he is entitled to host one.

That’s the backstory. Thus it is, that Trump’s statement is utterly humiliating and funny. In order to avoid clicking on his site, we give you the abbreviated version:

Turnberry is a famous course that used to be an option that has hosted the tournament in the past. That Trump believes he is entitled to host it in any given year is hilarious because they’re chosen five to ten years in the past. It would also seem quite significant that Scottish law enforcement is investigating Trump’s clubs for fraud and money laundering.

Regardless, knowing that Trump is at home boiling over something so insignificant compared to his other problems is satisfying to us and humiliating to him.
