Over and over and over again, Trump issues “Official Statements” from his office. The statements increasingly look like tweet threads. He puts out four to five a day that don’t get reported because they’re just ridiculous. He wants attention.
But then he will put out a statement that is so dangerous that it must be reported in order to keep Americans aware of the dangers coming from the Right. Last night, Trump lashed out at Fox for reporting on the results of an AP Investigation finding nearly no fraud in Arizona. Trump cannot have that.
From the AP Investigation:
“Arizona county election officials have identified fewer than 200 cases of potential voter fraud out of more than 3 million ballots cast in last year’s presidential election, further discrediting former President Donald Trump’s claims of a stolen election as his allies continue a disputed ballot review in the state’s most populous county.”
Two hundred cases of “potential” fraud, (could be explained away, or honest mistakes) out of three million. This is why A.G. Bill Barr said that he and the FBI found no “significant” fraud that would overturn an election. Barr surely knew that there would be cases here and there, entirely insignificant. We also want to keep pointing to the fact that Trump finds that “75 million” number extremely important, saying ridiculous things like, “People said if you get 65 million, you’d win,” it is almost like Trump knew he would come in around 75 million and he would be impossible to beat. Make of that what you will, but with Russians and Saudis working toward Trump’s reelection, anything is possible. We know our intelligence agencies had evidence that the Russians would meddle again in our elections, they told us in hearings.
More from the A.P.
“An Associated Press investigation found 182 cases where problems were clear enough that officials referred them to investigators for further review. So far, only four cases have led to charges, including those identified in a separate state investigation. No one has been convicted. No person’s vote was counted twice.
And there you have it. Once again, investigations into voter fraud in the United States find next to nothing. It makes complete sense. If one is an illegal immigrant, the single last place one wants to be is at a polling place, a government entity, with registration, addresses, names, all that. It is a ridiculous thought. If you are a regular American, it’s sometimes hard to believe that one vote is worth it, never mind “four” or “five” votes getting recounted.
It would take a massive effort to hack into computers and that effort would be done long before the election, kicking certain people off the rolls in certain locations. We cannot know, but the FBI did say that they found evidence of the Russians in voting databases in many states in 2016, but no “flipping” of votes. They never said anything about crossing people off the rolls.
As per usual, Trump just went poo-flinging monkey insane. Here is the man facing possible criminal charges in Arizona for election interference. Quote from Rawstory to avoid clicks on Trump’s site:
“Fox News and other media outlets incorrectly side with the outdated and terrible Maricopa County Election Board to report no fraud found in the Presidential Election. They spew the gross misinformation purposefully put out by the county and the Associated Press, and IGNORE the very important Arizona Senate’s hearing yesterday,”
“The same anchor at the desk the night Fox called Arizona for Joe Biden now wants you to believe there was no fraud. The anchor was Bret Baier.“
Once again, Trump inserts his own truth, made up in his addled mind. Once again, Trump dangerously puts a target on a journalist’s head. Once again, Trump invites stochastic terrorism into the equation, hoping the lone wolf takes care of his problem with journalists, just as thousands of loosely organized “lone wolves” did his bidding in rioting at the Capitol.
It is all just so disgusting and terribly dangerous on every level.
