It. Never. Ends.

The Joe Biden administration must feel like the entirety of their first year is going to be a daily, hour-by-hour exercise of “Unfck this, Unfck that, and this, then that…” Thankfully, undoing some things are far easier than undoing others.

Who remembers this? Perhaps a better question might be, who could possibly have forgotten this? From Rawstory:

So showerheads — you take a shower, the water doesn’t come out. You want to wash your hands, the water doesn’t come out,″ Trump said at the White House last year. “So what do you do? You just stand there longer or you take a shower longer? Because my hair — I don’t know about you, but it has to be perfect. Perfect.

Ah, yes – the personal war to make bathrooms safe for Donald Trump and thus America. There has to be enough water coming out of the pipes for his hair and for one toilet flush because the whole situation had become an utter outrage in modern America, according to Trump. It is ridiculous and it is funny.

But it’s also serious. Go take a look at Lake Mead in southern Nevada today. Go look at what used to be the bay delta in which the Colorado River emptied into the Gulf of California (Hint, it’s not there, every drop is used). Think about what the City of Denver thinks about doubling the amount of water available in every showerhead and toilet. Denver is the new Las Vegas in the scramble for water. Los Angeles never had enough.

Trump managed to make these issues a punchline, but the root problem is far more serious than most Americans know, which is saying something because most Americans know it’s really bad. It is actually worse.

“While publicly talking about the need to keep his hair ‘perfect,’ Trump made increasing water flow and dialing back longstanding appliance conservation standards — including for light bulbs, toilets and dishwashers — a personal issue.”

As per usual, Trump could be counted upon to think only of himself. But if one just envisions oneself as the public works director in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, basically any city in the mountain west, these rules are a crucial tool in helping to conserve a diminishing resource. Think about what they thought while picturing every showerhead, every commode, every faucet, doubling the amount of water going down the drain.

Go look at Lake Mead today and then look at Trump’s hair. It is very difficult to conclude which is uglier. They are, however, related.
