We have to skate a fine line with this one. We do not cheer anyone, anyone, getting super sick.

We just don’t. We may have no regrets if someone passes away, but…

And yet the Trump administration went out of its way to hide the seriousness of Trump’s condition when he came down with COVID and that’s appalling.

Had the administration been more honest and open (after he regained his health), it might have made a small difference with respect to how the MAGAs view COVID. There are far too many MAGAs who view COVID as “the sniffles,” and perhaps some would take it more seriously had their sith overlord openly acknowledged the seriousness of his condition.

It was serious. But we already knew that it was more serious than they let on. We knew that, far from being “precautionary” (as we heard), Trump was told that he essentially had no choice when his oxygen saturation fell too low.

He could either walk to the helicopter right then or wait and be wheeled out on a gurney. According to Michael Bender’s new book, Trump was sick enough that Chief of Staff Mark Meadows gathered the staff to pray for Trump.

Our friends at Rawstory get raw with the description from Bender’s book:

“At the hospital, Trump grabbed his small overnight bag and carried it inside,” wrote Bender. “But he had been so weakened, the president dropped the bag after a few feet. When it fell to the floor, the doctors, aides, and law enforcement officers around Trump all seemed to take a step back. It appeared to Trump as if they were nervous about his infection and didn’t want to touch his belongings. But at that moment, Meadows stepped forward, picked it up, and carried it to his room.”

Those of us who have had the vaccine probably don’t remember how scary a situation that might have been, even though the virus was known to be far more airborne than surface. We can be pretty sure that Trump didn’t have a mask on (though we aren’t entirely sure.)

Again, just add up another fraction of Americans that Trump might have otherwise saved, had he been upfront with the American people, rather than doing all he could to hide the seriousness from the very beginning.
