Sadly, it appears that one of the beautiful murals built in George Floyd’s memory was destroyed by a lightning strike.

It happens. Perhaps now the City of Minneapolis can establish a permanent one.  We should set out, we do not know if this particular mural is the iconic one often seen in pictures or another mural, but for our purposes here, it really doesn’t matter.

Don Jr. is happy to see it gone. After all, they’re taking down statues of real “heroes” like Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis, so Junior took to this Instagram page to suggest that God did it just to get back at “those people.” (All ridiculous grammar from the original):

“This will drive some people nuts but oh well, I mean you have to wonder if someone, like a higher power, is telling us something here?!? Obviously what happened to George Floyd should never happen anywhere!!!

That said, objectively speaking, given his history I’m not sure turning him into a deity and a role model for our children is exactly the right idea either. Also please don’t tell me they’re not trying to turn him into a role model/hero there’s statues of him going up all over the country etc. etc. The same lunatics who want to erase our founding fathers want statues of this man all over the place. Again, we can learn from a disastrous situation but the pendulum seems to always correct way too far these days.”

That said, objectively speaking, given Don. Jr.’s history, he really has no right to characterize what George Floyd has become to the Black community. We are absolutely certain that children are not being taught about Floyd’s life and holding him up as a role model. But Floyd has become a figure, a martyr-symbol, to the Black Lives Matter movement. Because George Floyd’s life did matter, it is just that Junior doesn’t see it that way.

But it wouldn’t be Junior if he didn’t again prove his stupidity, saying he wondered how lightning could knock down brick. (He is the rugged camping guy, right? Has he never seen huge trees toppled?)

The building was clearly not destroyed, moron. And that set Twitter off on one of the better Don Jr. blowbacks in a long time:

Most people wanted to talk about Junior’s racism.
