There was palpable anticipation within the media and casual observers regarding the Trump rally in Sarasota Florida on Saturday evening. For perhaps the first time, there were born and bred MAGAs who were against the rally even taking place, many finding it offensive that Trump would come down to draw attention to himself while heroes still work in horrifically dangerous conditions to find the remains for heartbroken family members.

Even Gov. DeSantis requested that Trump stay away. The fact that Trump chose to ignore “Ron” ought to send a very powerful message through DeSantis’s amygdala. Trump doesn’t respect Ron any more than he respects his waiter. It also comes the same week in which DeSantis praised Biden and his coordination with state authorities in Surfside. DeSantis called “President Biden” very helpful. The dynamic was different and one knows that it must just eat

Newsmax reported that DeSantis did – at the last minute – decide to come. And yet DeSantis was not seen, at least in the initial portion:

So it was difficult to know what to expect. Of course, everyone knew there would be the ultra hardcore MAGAs present, cheering on every word, but it was difficult to tell whether Trump would get the expected crowd size, or would the Floridian MAGAs be turned off. Newsmax assured us that Trump was the catharsis that the United States needs right now.

Newsmax interviewed Trump prior to his speech and the very first thing he said was that the election was a fraud, and thus “he’s been asked to do these rallies” so it’s important to do for the people. How very selfless. Ron DeSantis asked him not to come but Trump is doing this because so many people asked him to do it. The Newsmax reporter noted that “all legal immigrants LOVE you…” It was near impossible to watch.

Trump said Mitch McConnell is very weak, but only because McConnell didn’t send the election back to the legislatures. Trump assured the Newsmax reporter that the people in this country are very very scared, and gas is very expensive. (Gas is the same price as this time in the summer of 2018).

It had rained on the crowd earlier in the evening, which seemed fairly appropriate.

He opened to his usual walk-up music – we cannot recall a politician using walk-up music prior to Trump, it’s possible, but the professional wrestling fan knows that the entrance is all-important and so we had to once again hear, ….. and I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free and I won’t forget…” There was no dancing.

This was funny because it was all too obvious:

Trump mentioned that they needed free and fair elections before he asked for a moment of silence, for the victims in Surfside. The crowd did not even make it through the moment of silence before they started cheering. At least initially, Trump seemed tranquilized, speaking slower, and more reserved, not in a good way. Trump described exactly how everything in the country is now ruined, totally, there is nothing good about the country under Joe Biden – who Trump then questioned whether Joe was even in charge.

Trump tried to speak as president, he wanted to speak to every border patrol agent, ICE agent, … he was going to say something about Biden lying to them, but he hilariously tripped himself up by suddenly transitioning into energy and went on a long windmill rant, they are big, ugly, and make a lot of noise. Apparently, Trump has never been near a refinery.

“Something about MAGA, it just keeps coming back” Trump accuses NYC has never seen such a rapid rise in violent crime, and yet now they’re coming after him. Trump then declared himself the “cleanest guy in history” – as shown by the Mueller report, the hundreds of subpoenas (which he refused to answer). The man who won by getting his crowds to yell “lock her up” and pardoned his friends, then complained about the politicization of the justice system. He even complained that they never looked into Hillary Clinton’s Foundation:

He then spent the next ten minutes talking about the entire effort to hurt him. He said it’s all propaganda, if you say it enough…

Trump couldn’t possibly emphasize enough how horrible things are in the country right now, there is death and destruction everywhere you look, unlike last year. It is because they build a movement like no other, there’s never been a movement like the one he’s put together.

Within 20-30 minutes of speaking, Trump was back talking about Hillary, while complaining that he was being prosecuted. It says everything one needs to know. Trump wanted Hillary prosecuted, said she would be in jail, but now when he’s facing charges, he cries it’s all political and then says “they” never did anything to Hillary – he was president.

Unbelievable.
