This is almost too good to be true.

There are some of us that live in one of the only liberal towns in Alabama, let’s just say a resort town on the East Bay, roughly twenty miles from this park. It is lovely and artsy and perfect, so perfect that it would have been soiled if Trump appeared within in a twenty-five-mile radius. Fortunately, we – and the country – have been spared the worry that Trump would hold a July 4th rally on what really is a place to unite our nation.

He was denied a permit. Maybe the good folks who run USS Alabama Battleship Park knew that they would be stuck with the bill? Maybe they just didn’t want the guy around? We don’t know. We’re just happy!

According to the invaluable Al.com:

“Tunnell says commissioners sought an opinion from the attorney general’s office in late May. NBC 15 News obtained Attorney General Steve Marshall’s response which stated there was little time for a formal opinion to be rendered, but did note the park may be used for political events provided access is ‘available for all political parties and candidates on an equal basis,'”

Okaaayyy. Perhaps this is one occasion in which people ought to be thankful that there is very little Democratic activity in Alabama that would offer “balance” in political neutrality? Who cares! Trump was denied the permit and won’t be close enough to concern those of us who would, in fact, be concerned.

The net rejoiced, and we suspect the celebration spread from coast to coast, and not bay coast:

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?

We don’t know and don’t particularly care. The rationale is less a concern than the fact that the holy ground won’t host such an unholy man. It is a place where people come to appreciate the sacrifices made during WWII, sacrifices made by all, and it won’t be soiled by someone who looks to divide the United States, not unite it.
