What. The Fck. Happened in Iowa last night? As you will note in the video below, during a fundraising gathering of the most loyal of the loyal Republicans in Iowa, Sen. Chuck Grassley and Sen. Tom Cotton (Arkansas) broke out into a push-up display, doing twenty-two each. As if the matter needed an even creepier element, the state’s other senator, Joni Ernst, counted off the pushups as if she was the female prize mate for the winner, having proven his manliness, and more colorful plumage.

Presumably, the entire point was to prove that the 87-year-old Grassley was healthy enough to run for another term, a term that he would start at 89 years of age, with only Diane Feinstein older. But even if the point was to prove that Grassley remains in good physical health, we’re at a loss as to what that means with respect to serving as a United States Senator. Physical strength  – which is the only thing that a push up could possibly prove – is meaningless. There are hundreds of thousands of Americans confined to wheelchairs or even more disabled that possess the sharp judgment, analytical ability, and empathy needed to be effective in the U.S. Senate.

A push-up contest does nothing but forces us to question their judgment. Meanwhile, Tom Cotton’s push-ups are near humiliating, given that he might have gone down two inches, very poor form, equating to very bad judgment.

There are so many more but all riff off the same thing. Batshit-crazed Republicans, with amazingly gullible people in the crowd.
