Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly expressed disappointment over President Joe Biden’s recent comments suggesting confidence in his ability to win the 2024 presidential election.
The remarks, made by Biden in an interview earlier this month, have sparked discussions about the dynamic between the two leaders.
In an interview with USA Today at the start of January, Biden addressed the possibility of defeating Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 matchup.
“It’s presumptuous to say that, but I think yes… based on the polling,” he said. Biden later clarified that he believed both he and Harris “could have… would have” defeated Trump if they had run.
However, sources close to Harris told The Wall Street Journal that the Vice President viewed Biden’s comments as disappointing.

Some of Harris’s confidants described the president’s statement as demonstrating “one-sided loyalty.”
The report highlights ongoing tensions between the two leaders, which have surfaced publicly on a few occasions during their tenure.
This revelation comes shortly after Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, attended the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter earlier this month.
Observers noted a frosty demeanor during their appearance, fueling speculation about broader challenges in Harris’s political and personal life.
Harris has been a steadfast supporter of Biden throughout his presidency, even during moments of significant criticism.
Notably, she stood by him after his controversial debate performance in June, where calls for him to step down mounted within the Democratic Party.
Despite this, Harris has occasionally distanced herself from Biden’s more contentious remarks, such as his characterization of Trump supporters as “garbage.”
Harris and Emhoff have faced a series of personal and professional challenges in recent weeks as she prepares to leave public office for the first time since 2004.
Following her formal role in presiding over the certification of the 2024 election loss, Harris canceled a planned foreign trip to Singapore, Bahrain, and Germany to assist with the government’s response to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
The wildfires also directly impacted Harris’s personal life, with her home in Los Angeles’s Brentwood neighborhood coming under evacuation orders last week.
These challenges come at a critical juncture as Harris considers her next steps in public life.
According to sources, Harris is weighing several options for maintaining her public profile.
She is reportedly exploring the possibility of running for California governor in 2026.
Additionally, she is considering taking on speaking engagements and writing a book as part of her post-vice-presidential plans.

Harris has not ruled out the idea of running for president again in 2028.
While Harris’s future remains uncertain, her reported disappointment over Biden’s remarks underscores the complexities of their partnership and the evolving dynamics within the Democratic Party.
As both leaders navigate their respective political paths, their relationship—and public perceptions of it—will likely remain a focal point in the coming years.
