We could say prayers all day, to all dogs in heaven, to grace this world with the gift of never having to hear about Trump’s dismissal from Twitter forever, ever again. (“Forever,” aka “Infinity,” is a long time. It is believed there are 10 to the 82 power number of atoms in the universe, once Trump reaches that number of years, still off Twitter, he will not have served one-quadrillionth of his service. Add all of it up and he’s not even really begun. Nice thought).

Richard Grenell is a MAGA who – at times – seems to believe Trump is the God of heaven (Who wouldn’t allow dogs in). Today, Grenell said that the worst thing that happened on January 6th was that Trump was kicked off Twitter.

Grenell used to be Director of National Intelligence and that’s kinda funny to think about because it doesn’t take a ton of intelligence to Google that Trump got kicked off Twitter on January 8th. But no matter, we’re “intelligent enough” to understand what he meant.

Grenell appeared on Newsmax on Thursday to discuss the events of January 6, 2020 (you can watch the video here). “These democrats and their media allies see something. They’re dramatizing this whole January 6th, because they want to seize elections forever,” he said to three other stern-faced men before grumbling about mail-in ballots.

Later, Grenell returned to the attack on the Capitol Building one year ago today, but rather than call it what it was (a failed coup, an insurrection, a day dark in American history, etc.), he complained about Trump getting booted off Twitter. “Let me finish with this, January 6th was a terrible day because it’s the day Big Tech and the media kicked President Trump off Twitter and silenced his voice,” he said to approving nods. “That was the day that was an attack on our democracy.”

Well, we’ve been awfully technical with our math in this column, so we may as well be technical with the language, too. Just today, we’ve been forced to read a “Statement from the Office of… Trump” that was posted to Twitter, and we’ve watched an OAN interview of Trump that was posted on Twitter. We just hate to have to correct Grenell’s intelligence here, but that is not silencing the man, he is not silenced by the media, nor is he even silenced on Twitter.

And, of course, the fact that Trump cannot use his own thumbs to put his own stupid words into a tweet to 82 million followers, up to 20 million of which were probably not bots, is not the end of democracy. The end of democracy would have come about if the guy who had lost the election somehow utilized a horde of MAGAs to delay a vote long enough to have the House vote on the presidency and keep Trump in office.

Should Kamala Harris Run for President in 2028?

Last – we cannot resist – Grennel’s former job was head of National Intelligence. If Biden was able to pull of a “rigged election” Trump’s intelligence service wasn’t very intelligent and deserved to lose on merit alone.
